Terms of Use
Effective date: July 11, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your use of the FriendsOf mobile application, the website at friendsof.me, and related services.
FriendsOf is an independently operated personal project. References to “FriendsOf,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to the individual operator of FriendsOf.
By downloading, accessing, purchasing, or using FriendsOf, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use FriendsOf.
1. About FriendsOf
FriendsOf is a personal relationship-management tool intended to help users:
Organize people and relationships;
Remember relevant personal details;
Schedule check-ins;
Receive reminders;
Record contact or interaction history;
Explore relationship information;
Initiate communications using other applications; and
Use other relationship-management features that may be introduced.
FriendsOf is a productivity and organizational tool. It does not guarantee that a relationship will improve, continue, or produce any particular outcome.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to consent to digital services in your country.
If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, you may use FriendsOf only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
By using FriendsOf, you represent that you satisfy these requirements and are legally permitted to accept these Terms.
3. Personal and Non-Commercial License
Subject to these Terms, FriendsOf grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control.
This license is for personal use unless FriendsOf expressly authorizes another use in writing.
You may not:
Copy, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, distribute, or commercially exploit FriendsOf;
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law expressly permits it;
Circumvent security, subscription, access-control, or technical restrictions;
Interfere with the app, website, servers, or other users;
Use automated systems to scrape, overload, probe, or attack the service;
Introduce malware or harmful code;
Misrepresent your affiliation with FriendsOf;
Remove legal, copyright, or ownership notices;
Use FriendsOf to violate another person’s rights; or
Use FriendsOf for unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or harmful activity.
4. Your Information and Content
You may enter names, contact details, notes, dates, relationship categories, communication history, reminders, and other information into FriendsOf.
You retain ownership of information you enter.
You grant FriendsOf a limited permission to process that information only as reasonably necessary to:
Operate features you request;
Store information on your device;
Provide optional backup and restoration;
Maintain and secure the service;
Diagnose technical issues; and
Comply with applicable law.
This permission ends when the information is deleted from systems controlled by FriendsOf, subject to reasonable backup, security, and legal-retention periods.
5. Your Responsibilities Regarding Other People
FriendsOf may allow you to store information about other people.
You are responsible for the information you enter and how you use it. You must have a lawful and appropriate basis for storing or using another person’s information.
You agree not to use FriendsOf to:
Harass, stalk, threaten, monitor, or intimidate another person;
Obtain or store information through unlawful or deceptive means;
Impersonate another person;
Disclose private information without authorization;
Facilitate discrimination or abuse;
Store illegal content;
Send spam or unwanted communications;
Record communications where doing so is unlawful; or
Violate privacy, data-protection, intellectual-property, or other legal rights.
FriendsOf is not responsible for disputes arising from information you enter about another person or communications you initiate through the app.
6. Device Contacts and Permissions
Certain features may require access to device contacts, notifications, storage, or other operating-system functionality.
FriendsOf will request relevant permissions through your device. You may decline or revoke permissions, but some features may then be unavailable.
You are responsible for reviewing the permissions you grant and configuring your device appropriately.
7. Communications Through Other Services
FriendsOf may help you initiate a call, text, email, or shared message through third-party applications installed on your device.
FriendsOf does not operate or control those communication services and is not responsible for:
Whether a communication is delivered;
Carrier or data charges;
The content you send;
The recipient’s response;
The availability of another application; or
The privacy and security practices of third-party services.
You are responsible for reviewing and approving communications before sending them.
8. Notifications and Reminders
FriendsOf may provide reminders based on information and schedules stored in the app.
Reminders are provided for convenience only. FriendsOf does not guarantee that notifications will be delivered, delivered on time, or displayed correctly.
Notifications may be delayed or prevented by:
Device settings;
Battery optimization;
Operating-system restrictions;
Disabled permissions;
Network issues;
Software errors; or
Other circumstances outside FriendsOf’s control.
You remain responsible for important dates, commitments, communications, and obligations.
9. FriendsOf Pro
FriendsOf may offer a paid subscription called FriendsOf Pro.
Pro features may include:
Automated cloud backups;
Backup restoration;
Explore Relationships;
Additional relationship-management tools; and
Other features identified in the app at the time of purchase.
Features may vary by device, operating system, country, subscription plan, or app version.
FriendsOf may add, modify, replace, or discontinue individual Pro features. We will not intentionally remove the essential value of an active paid subscription without reasonable notice where notice is practicable.
10. Free Trials
FriendsOf may offer a free trial to eligible users.
Trial eligibility, duration, availability, and terms are displayed before enrollment and may be determined by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or FriendsOf.
Unless cancelled before the trial ends, a free trial may automatically convert into a paid subscription at the price shown during enrollment.
You are responsible for cancelling through the applicable app-store account before the renewal deadline if you do not want to be charged.
A person may be limited to one free trial or promotional offer. Creating additional accounts or using other methods to obtain repeated trials may result in loss of eligibility or suspension of access.
11. Subscription Billing and Renewal
Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
By starting a subscription, you authorize the applicable app store to charge the payment method associated with your account.
Unless otherwise stated during purchase:
Subscriptions automatically renew;
Renewal occurs at the end of each billing period;
Your app-store account is charged according to the store’s renewal process;
Prices and available plans may vary by country; and
Taxes may be added where required.
Apple or Google controls payment processing. FriendsOf does not directly store your complete payment-card details.
12. Cancelling a Subscription
Deleting FriendsOf does not cancel a subscription.
You must cancel through the subscription settings of the Apple App Store or Google Play account used to make the purchase.
Cancellation generally stops future renewals. You normally retain access to paid features until the end of the current paid period unless the applicable store provides otherwise.
FriendsOf cannot guarantee that cancellation requests sent by email will cancel an app-store subscription.
13. Refunds
Payments and refunds are administered by Apple or Google under their applicable rules.
Except where required by law, FriendsOf does not independently issue refunds for purchases processed by an app store.
To request a refund, use the refund process provided by the store through which you purchased the subscription.
14. Price Changes
Subscription prices may change.
Where required, the relevant app store or FriendsOf will provide notice. Some price changes may require your consent before the subscription renews.
If you do not agree to a price change, you must cancel before the new price becomes effective.
15. Restoring Purchases
FriendsOf may provide a restore-purchases feature.
Restoration depends on the app-store account, purchase records, RevenueCat services, device compatibility, and network availability.
We cannot guarantee restoration when:
You are signed into a different app-store account;
The purchase was refunded or revoked;
The store cannot validate the transaction;
The product is unavailable on the current platform; or
Technical or account restrictions prevent validation.
16. Automated Backups
Automated backup is intended to reduce the risk of losing FriendsOf data, but it is not a guarantee against data loss.
You are responsible for confirming that:
Backup is enabled;
Your subscription remains active;
Your device can connect to the service;
The app has the required permissions;
A recent backup exists; and
Restored information is accurate and complete.
Backups may fail, become corrupted, be delayed, or be unavailable because of software errors, outages, incompatible app versions, storage limitations, account problems, subscription issues, or circumstances beyond FriendsOf’s control.
Do not rely on FriendsOf as the only copy of information that is legally, financially, medically, or personally critical.
17. No Emergency, Medical, or Professional Service
FriendsOf is not an emergency service.
Do not use FriendsOf as the sole method for remembering emergency contacts, medical instructions, legal deadlines, safety checks, caregiving obligations, or other time-critical responsibilities.
FriendsOf does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, relationship, or professional advice.
Relationship suggestions, reminders, categories, summaries, or insights are general organizational features and should not be treated as professional assessments.
18. Availability and Changes
FriendsOf is an evolving personal project.
We may:
Add or remove features;
Change the design or functionality;
Release updates;
correct errors;
Restrict access to insecure or outdated versions;
Temporarily suspend services;
Change technical providers; or
Discontinue part or all of FriendsOf.
We do not guarantee that FriendsOf will always be available, uninterrupted, compatible with every device, or free from errors.
Where reasonably practicable, notice may be provided before a material discontinuation affecting active paid subscribers.
19. Updates
The app may require updates to continue functioning correctly.
Updates may modify features, permissions, data formats, system requirements, or compatibility. Failure to install an update may cause features to become unavailable or unreliable.
Your use of an updated version remains subject to the Terms then in effect.
20. Third-Party Services
FriendsOf relies on or interacts with third-party services, including app stores, operating-system providers, subscription-management services, hosting providers, communication applications, and website providers.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies.
FriendsOf is not responsible for third-party:
Outages;
Errors;
Security incidents;
Payment decisions;
Account restrictions;
Data practices;
Content; or
Changes to products or policies.
21. Intellectual Property
FriendsOf, including its name, logos, visual design, software, text, graphics, interfaces, original content, and related materials, is owned by its operator or licensed from applicable rights holders.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of FriendsOf or its intellectual property to you.
Feedback or suggestions may be used to improve FriendsOf without payment or obligation, provided that FriendsOf does not acquire ownership of your private relationship information merely because you provide feedback.
22. Website Content
Information on friendsof.me is provided for general informational and promotional purposes.
Although reasonable efforts may be made to keep website information accurate, FriendsOf does not guarantee that all descriptions, screenshots, prices, features, availability statements, or other content will always be complete or current.
Information displayed inside the app or applicable app store at the time of purchase controls in the event of a material conflict regarding subscription pricing or billing.
23. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using FriendsOf at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access to online or paid features when reasonably necessary because of:
A serious or repeated violation of these Terms;
Fraudulent or unauthorized purchases;
Attempts to bypass subscription controls;
Abuse of the service;
Security threats;
Legal requirements; or
Conduct that could harm FriendsOf or others.
Termination of app access does not automatically cancel an app-store subscription. You remain responsible for cancelling through Apple or Google.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain effective, including provisions concerning ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, and disputes.
24. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FriendsOf is provided “as is” and “as available.”
FriendsOf disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and security.
We do not warrant that:
FriendsOf will meet every requirement;
Reminders will always be timely;
Data will never be lost;
Backups will always succeed;
Relationship insights will be accurate;
The app will be uninterrupted or error-free;
Defects will always be corrected; or
FriendsOf will remain available indefinitely.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, so some exclusions may not apply to you.
25. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FriendsOf and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including damages arising from:
Loss of information;
Missed reminders;
Failed backups;
Lost relationships or opportunities;
Communications sent through third-party services;
Unauthorized access to a device;
Service interruptions;
Lost profits; or
Loss of goodwill.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of FriendsOf and its operator for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of:
The amount you paid for FriendsOf during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
Fifty United States dollars.
This limitation does not apply where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.
26. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless FriendsOf and its operator from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising from:
Your unlawful use of FriendsOf;
Information or content you enter;
Your communication with another person;
Your violation of another person’s rights; or
Your material violation of these Terms.
This provision does not require you to indemnify FriendsOf for conduct for which indemnification is prohibited by law.
27. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Subject to applicable consumer-protection laws, disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located in New Jersey.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights you may have under mandatory laws in your country, state, or province.
28. Resolving Concerns Informally
Before bringing a formal claim, you agree to contact FriendsOf at we@friendsof.me and provide a reasonable description of the issue.
We will attempt to resolve the matter informally. This section does not prevent either party from seeking urgent relief where necessary to protect safety, security, or legal rights.
29. App Store Terms
When FriendsOf is downloaded through Apple or Google, your use is also subject to the applicable store’s terms.
Apple and Google are not responsible for providing support for FriendsOf except as required under their own terms.
Where applicable, Apple and its subsidiaries are intended third-party beneficiaries of provisions required by Apple’s standard app-distribution terms and may enforce those provisions against you.
30. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated as FriendsOf develops.
Updated Terms will be posted on friendsof.me with a revised effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or another reasonable method.
Your continued use after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
If you do not agree to an update, you must stop using FriendsOf and cancel any subscription you do not wish to renew.
31. Severability
If a provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary. The remaining provisions will remain in effect.
32. No Waiver
Failure to enforce a provision of these Terms does not waive the right to enforce it later.
33. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any purchase terms displayed at checkout, form the entire agreement concerning your use of FriendsOf.
